Collection of demographic information
- Why does the ASCI collect demographic data? Beginning in 2022, the Society has worked to collect comprehensive demographic information from members and others in the ASCI community. This includes geographic region, institutional affiliation, scientific specialty, age, gender, ancestry, and other characteristics. The data points will allow us to better understand our community and gaps in representation at a given moment and over time, and to identify ways to address areas of concern. The ASCI’s mission — supporting physician-scientists to improve the health of all people — depends on a community that represents all people.
If you have already completed your demographic profile, we thank you. If not, please participate in this effort to advance the ASCI’s breadth and depth of representation by completing the Demographics section in your account. All data are anonymized for analysis.
Awards
- The ASCI established two awards recognizing the significant scholarly achievements of mid-career ASCI members. The finalists were selected by the DEIC and inaugural awards presented at the 2023 Joint Meeting.
- The Marian W. Ropes, MD, Award, recognizing a female physician-scientist
- The Louis W. Sullivan, MD, Award, recognizing a physician-scientist identifying as UiMS
Video
- ASCI Perspectives: An ongoing series of interviews with UiMS members within the ASCI community led by DEIC members.
Programs
- ASCI Postbaccalaureate Program: Intensive two-year mentored laboratory research experience for students that will expose them to the physician-scientist career pathway, strengthen their applications to MD or MD-PhD programs, and enhance their career development.
